Mobile Software Engineering Manager – Samsung Mobile R&D Lab
**General Description**
Samsung Mobile R&D; Lab in Bellevue, WA is looking for talented Mobile Software Engineering Managers to take on the challenges of creating and delivering software innovations on Samsung's mobile platforms. Established in June 2011 as a local lab of Samsung R&D;, the lab owns design, implementation and commercialization of a number of carrier features, carrier applications and services integration, advanced network technologies enablement, as well as advanced R&D; incubation with carriers and Samsung partners. Due to the huge success of Samsung devices, the lab urgently needs more mobile software engineers who are passionate about mobile technologies, and want to work on some of the greatest mobile devices in the world. A mobile software engineering manager will lead a team of 8~10 developers to design and implement new features and services on Samsung devices for US carriers, and to support the entire commercialization process with carriers. The role is expected to provide technical guidance to junior engineers on software architecture, design patterns, engineering best practice, as well as task prioritization and professional communication internally and externally.
**Necessary Skills / Attributes**
* At least 10 years of work experience on mobile embedded systems (Android preferred).
* Demonstrable expertise in Android internals or development experience with phone OEMs.
* Self-motivated and able to quickly learn new technical areas and solve complicated problems under pressure.
* Solid knowledge of Android SDK and the fundamentals of what makes good app design (must be able to show examples of this).
* Solid understanding of core Java & C++ and OOD.
* Excellent knowledge of fundamentals of computer science - operating systems, data structures, algorithms, and TCP/IP networking concept-is mandatory.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* BS/MS degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
* Manage a team of 8~10 developers and drive performance improvement.
* Plan and execute software projects on Samsung mobile devices for US carriers to ensure high quality and time to market.
* Design, develop, unit test and deploy Android based solutions using common standards and frameworks.
* Watch for industry trend, new mobile technologies and services, and carrier technology strategies, and take proper actions to leverage those to create innovations for Samsung devices.
